South Africa's Wild Coast Adventure Route introduction

From the outset it is important to recognise the ethos behind this tourism project as one of education and empowerment through skills transfer and meaningful work opportunities. It is time to reinvent our methodology. By linking existing structures and initiatives to a dynamic, self-sustaining, holistic approach (Structured adventure education, ongoing training and ultimately viable business opportunities) we will unlock a treasure trove of renewable, ongoing wealth for the local community
Finding a starting point for this document has proved more difficult that anticipated; I hope, that like me, your mind will break away from the restricting parameters of what has been attempted to date – the Wild Coast in the context of South Africa and South Africa's history is unique, it demands an inimitable approach.
"Adventure tourism is the fastest growing aspect of tourism throughout the world. South Africa is one of the premier adventure tourism destinations of the world. This project takes South Africa's biggest renewable resource (adventure tourism) and links it to South Africa's biggest socio-economic challenge (Unemployment) and in so doing improves the quality of life for all the people in this country."

The Wild Coast is a magical place. It is a place of legends and traditions – it also reflects the 'passing' of an era… on many, many levels, including a peoples lost heritage, the destruction of nature and most significant, the physical death of its people. This document explores the possibility of restoring dignity and prosperity to the region in a way that benefits the people who live there and the country as a whole, thereby giving reason for the existence of natural areas along South Africa's best kept adventure tourism secret.
There are people all 'round the world who would visit Mdumbi, Hluleka, Mkambati, Mbotyi, Dwesa and Mnyameni just for the privilege of experiencing the adventure, natural wonders and the people that most South Africans are blissfully unaware.
