Mike: The team has to determine who is to be invited, the date and the venue. Austen and Albert are proposing a small team of Mike, Leonard, Austen and Albert plus a few community leaders from the Helderberg – as the Helderberg should have a solid project which is properly supported before we start communicating to the Local Government and Provincial authorities.
Date: 14/6
Task: Possible involvement of the Dutch Woord en Daad Foundation in Macassar/Helderberg
Status: Has been arranged
Details: Albert and Austen met a
Dutch group representing a Dutch foundation in Somerset West
Status: The visitors displayed a business approach and could provide soft loans and support if MICAH ON TRACK is able to offer a sizable economic project that meets the criteria of Stichting Woord & Daad.
Details: The visiting team was led by Gert Wiggelinkhuijsen, Small & Medium Enterprise Development of Stichting Woord en Daad, Postbus 560, 4200 AN Gorinchem, The Netherlands.
This division of the foundation wants to be involved in big projects that serve a group of people by giving them employment. An example is their fish breeding project at the University of Stellenbosch which provides employment to 20-30 persons per breeding group (total of 14 breeding groups). For that kind of project they are looking for partners that can provide technical and entrepreneurial mentorship.
"An example of entrepreneurs we rather not support is someone that wants to start his own business in bricklaying or chicken breeding with one or three employees."
This foundation could become a valuable partner where a number of businesses wish to start an economic venture aimed at generating jobs. More details can be obtained from Albert.
Task: On Track Club/Chrysalis joint Adventure Tourism programme taken to the first level with Macassar Youngsters exposed to Adventure Wall training in the Somerset Mall
Details: Austen arranged that youth visited the climbing wall and about 20 youngsters were given a rudimentary introduction. This initiative seems have come to a halt as Dave is no longer involved.

Due Date: Soonest
Task: Identification of stakeholders
Status: Outstanding
Details: Leonard, Mike, Austen and Albert to identify all the provincial government ministries, departments, and organisations which have an expressed or possible interest in the project required to build a project database. Each is to provide names, titles and email contact details
Date: 21/4
Task: Meeting at Chrysalis Academy
Status: Done
Details: Mike, Austen & Albert met Leonard Marthinus – who is enthusiastic about cooperation as the Academy has included Adventure Tourism in its syllabus
Date: ?
Task: Envisaged cooperation by The On Track Club and Macassar
Details: Mike Baker, CEO of the On Track Club addressed the community leaders of Macassar who run MICAH (Macassar Inter Church Alliance for Hope) about the On Track Club and how their approach to adventure tourism is starting to create jobs in communities not only in adventure tourism but in all kinds of support services which earn income for active entrepreneurial participants. Mike invited MICAH to become involved. There is a need to involve at least two municipal areas of the Western Cape in adventure tourism events and weekends such as those which were initiated by the On Track Club in the Free State, Limpopo and in the Eastern Cape. These events in the mentioned areas received the full support of the local community leaders, local government and of Provincial Governments. It is anticipated that the Western Cape Provincial Government will also provide their support in the near future.
